The Art of John O'Shea
John O'Shea was born in New York City in 1959. He moved to Ireland when he was 3 years old and only return to the US at 19. He creates paintings since he is ten years of age having his artistic activity gradually increased in New York City, Provincetown, MA and in Evora, Portugal. It was in Evora that most of his work was developed and admired in view of the time spent in the Alentejo particularly during this decade.
John’s art covers a wide range of subjects and media. He combines eye-catching colors and textures in his abstract and figurative paintings all adding to his intriguing and sometimes mystical creations.
“My work is a reflection of my inner thoughts, happy memories, successes, regrets and dreams. My art is my music. It progresses, moves forward…and the last piece is always a departure point to a new creation that reflects my eager to experiment while venturing into new territories”.
John continues to explore new ways to share his cultural traditions. He lives in Provincetown, Massachusetts where he deals with imports of handpainted pottery and other crafts from Portugal designed for Provincia Inc. John currently works at MDV3 Gallery & Studio and the Hutson Gallery and in Provincetown

A DOG HOUSE SILENT AUCTION to Benefit Pilgrim Bark Park took place at the Schoolhouse Gallery in Provincetown, MA from October 24 ~ November 1, 2008
The Provincetown Dog Park Association, Inc. Presented an AUCTION and FUNDRAISER that took place at the Schoolhouse Gallery in Provincetown, MA. Participants were asked to personalize, decorate to make art or to otherwise innovate a wooden doghouse, which will then be displayed in the gallery for a week-long silent auction ending in a DOG-PARTY FINALE on Saturday November 1, 2008! All proceeds were donated to Provincetown's new dog park, Pilgrim Bark Park.
